Custom Instruments and analog Synth programming for Arca’s Mutant;Faith Immersive performance series
Skin Feedback Dance Pole - A modified 13' skin reactive dance pole that creates unpredictable analog feedback tones based upon the amount of skin contact. Tonalities change depending upon the performer's state of skin moisture. The pole is connected directly to a Stereo Field which is flush mounted in the base of the dance platform providing accessible feedback controls and I/O for patching through various guitar pedals or processing external audio through the performer's skin.
Distance to MIDI - A mic stand mounted infrared beam which can sense a performer up to 30' away. MIDI notes data is sent to an analog polyphonic synthesizer when the beam is strummed with the hands or body movement. The design includes selectable scales and octaves. *Coded by Chris Williams.
MIDI Heels - for MUTANT;DESTRUDO at the Park Avenue Armory. (Oct. 11-15th, 2023). Three pairs of modded audio/vibration reactive high heels with provided connections to L/R wireless transmitter belt units. The heel audio is processed through two Ableton patches (by Matt Robertson) to provide MIDI triggers for round-robin samples of foley footsteps or Tr-808 snare/kick (left/right feet).
